hi mr majastic I think you are right theer, you never hear any daughters called Jezabel either hehe.
Reniaa
I don’t know about that…..
I have heard many a parent call their growing teenage daughter ‘Jezebel’
this was the same man at different times in his life yet he changed his name because he completely changed his ideals and goals too.
both were extremely zealous, both thought they were doing gods work, both thought they were working for the greater good.. acts 8:3 (new international version)3but saul began to destroy the church.
going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.. soul thought gods work was to destroy the christians but paul.... acts 20: 19i served the lord with great humility and with tears, although i was severely tested by the plots of the jews.

hi majestic
I too like saul as a name better hmm nobody picks it much for there kids these days :)
Yeah…. I noticed that as well. I wonder if it is because the bible vilifies that name: i.e. king Saul was a bastard to David and went against god….. and Paul when he was Saul was a bit of a git as well.??

Actually, out of the two names I think that I would rather be called Saul. It has a far better ring to it.
I get the picture of a rough rugged type, like Russell Crow, where as Paul….. most of the Paul’s I have met are tossers (no offence to any posters that share that name….except if you actually are a tosser called Paul..)

I think it is also a hope that somehow something will penetrate. Ya never know LOL
Mmmmmm..... I bet you do hope for that ( Raised eyebrows..)
Very bad choice of words there I think Isaac…..lol.. Freudian slip there by any chance…..???? lol..!!!
See….my hunch is never wrong…..

there we go Reniaa...you have the testimony of how and why i try to help others out of the org, as well as of Mr Majestic. I am a Bible beleiver, he is not...we are both motivated by love for people.
What a lovely thought there Isaac…… You’re right…. I do indeed love everybody…….(coy blushing half smile..eyes slightly downward)
Talking of which, is it my imagination or do you harbour a secret crush on Reniaa….??? lol…!!
You do tease her a lot I have noticed. All that pig tail pulling…. It’s a sure sign…..?????
i have been lurking on here for some time and i finally decided to join the fray.
i am 25 years old and was raised in the society.
fortunately when i was 8, my father left the organization and this allowed me to see the wrold from both angles, the jw (mom) and not (dad).. at first, i was strongly on the side of the witnesses and i even allowed myself to be convinced that getting baptised at 11 was a good idea.
Very moving story. So sorry for your loss.
A huge hug and a welcome to the forum.

Mr majestic Paul liberated them from their former religion and replaced it with the new covenant what do you replace it with?
Reniaa
Hi Reniaa,
Well, not being a bible believer anymore, I no longer see things through the distorted perspective of faith. So I go one step better than replacing an ‘oppressive covenant’ with just another one.
I replace it with something beautiful and better than what any religious constitution can muster up, and that is the ability to see life through an open mind, untainted and uncoloured by faith or belief. But I do equate with the biblical characters of Paul and Jesus, especially Jesus who said of the people under the yoke of the Pharisees…
. 36 On seeing the crowds he felt pity for them, because they were skinned and thrown about like sheep without a shepherd.
and I saw a lot of this whilst I was a JW. So knowing the harm that the society do I saw it as a kind of ‘moral’ obligation to try to help people out and see the truth about an institution that proves to be very harmful to many, and like Paul I put my efforts into helping people genuinely. The good thing is Reniaa is I have had much more success getting people out of a cult than I ever did in recruiting people into the cult. I can’t tell you how grateful I am of that fact.
So you can see why I equate more with the character of Paul. Helping people see the truth is one of the most wonderful things a person can do….

I would say that I see myself as Paul, but more from the angle of how the Pharisees saw him. He turned on a rules oriented institution which proved very harmful and he showed them from the scriptures that the religion was now rejected by god, and he spoke out the same as did Jesus who said of the religious leaders
23 Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying: 2 “The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of Moses.
being that they had assumed their position and went onto keep the people in tyrannical subjection. Many times he liberated people from the former religion being that the religion ruled with harshness and didn’t care enough about its subjects. I do the same with the WT society. It is harmful and I love to help people see the truth about it and after opening their eyes I let them decide for themselves if they still wish to continue with it or not but I do so without coercion. In that way I see that I am saving lives.
So yes, I’m definitely up for being Paul….
"inciting hatred on the basis of race, religion, gender, nationality or sexuality or other personal characteristic.".
is this seriously one of the forum's rules to follow?
how can that be so when this whole forum is based on inciting hatred towards one religion.....jehovah's witnesses.......wow this is funny!
Hi Scrapmama,
Not everyone on here hates JW’s. I still have a few friends who are still in. But there are quite a few of us here that have seen through the organisation and know that the ‘truth’ is not the truth. You don’t fit in with the ‘world’ but you can’t fit in the organisation anymore with what we have found out, so we tend to hang around here for a little bit.
Most people are really friendly I have found. You might want to try mixing a little bit more. I have met personally a few posters on here and they are the best kind of people you could meet.
Hope you can stick around……
feeling guilty already about being on here, the familiar words are recalled in my mind "don't go on any jehovah's witness websites except 'watchtower.org'!
so here i am, desperate for some help.
i'm 21 and have been studying for 2 years, i was made an unbaptised publisher in february and it was all going great until i had a problem with getting a little tipsy, the elders had to come scrape me off the floor of my witness friends house and take me home.
Wow….!!!
Didn’t expect to see you on here. I’m really having a great day now…..Woohoo.....(explain more to you tomorrow as to why I’m having a great day today…)
I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad. As others have said, there is no reason for you to be feeling so bad at the moment. Guilt is a thing that so many JW’s live with for years and is so terribly destructive. But I promise that in a few months you won’t be bothered by anything at all. You are just suffering the results of being near a high controlling cult. I can’t believe that you are being shunned at the moment, but to be honest with you, it is working to your favour. This is what will happen to you, and more so, if you do get baptised and make a mistake. But it does make you feel bad….. Hope you feel better soon......
So much more I have to say to you, but just to ask you, pleeeease can I sit in with you in front of the elders….??? And feel free to bring your study conductor along as well. That is a person I would love to meet……..!!!
